For Mixed Teams of 2 men and 2 women , aged 19 & over
A. ELIGIBILITY
1. Affiliation
a) Only those clubs and establishments that are affiliated with the Saskatchewan Curling Association and the Canadian Curling Association may participate in the competition.
b) All participants must be affiliated members of the SCA, adhere to the SCA Residency Policy and be a Canadian citizen.
2. Age
Each player must be 19 years of age or over on December 31st of the year prior to the National Championship (i.e. - They must be born in 1993, or earlier.)
3. Entry
a) Each team must register its four players on the competition entry form prior to the commencement of play. Each team must have two male players and two female players, and the male and female must play in alternate positions.
b) All players on the team must be members of an affiliated club in the same Region.
c) Registered players shall participate in the competition in one Region only.
d) If a team has a coach, he/she must be a Certified Level I or Competition Coach Certified in the sport of curling. At Nationals he/she must be Level II Certified or Competition Development Certified in the sport of curling to be recognized.
4. Entry Fees
The SCA entry fee for this competition is $200.00 (GST included) per team plus a Canadian Curling Association Participant Fee of $30.00 per player paid once per year, payable to the Region Director or SCA office at the time of entry. When entering the competition the participant must declare that they have previously paid this fee, OR pay the CCA Participant Fee at the time of entry. The CCA Participant Fee only needs to be paid once per season.
5. Entry Deadline
The entry deadline for this competition is 12:00 PM (noon), Tuesday, February 12, 2013.
B. SUBSTITUTE
(Please refer to General Rules of Competition #13 for general substitution rules) Specific substitution rules for this competition are:
1. Must be a member of an affiliated club in the same Region.
C. PLAYDOWN PROCEDURE
1. The playdown levels are - Region and Provincial Finals. Region playdowns are the responsibility of the SCA Region Coordinator in consultation with the affiliated clubs and establishments within the Region.
2. THE PROVINCIAL FINAL will be a 16 - team triple knockout format with a page system playoff to determine a provincial champion. Regions 1 - 14 will declare 1 representative. The Region with the highest number of entries will receive an additional representative. In the event of a tie, the Region with the highest number of entries the previous year will receive the representative. The Host Region will receive an additional representative. The Host Region would retain their Host Berth provided that they have a minimum of four entries in their Region. In the event that they do not have four entries, the Berth would go to the Region with the second highest ratio of Berths to entries. In the event the Region with the highest ratio has the second highest ratio, it will get the Berth. If a Region Berth is not filled, the Berth would go to the next highest ratio of Berth to entries. In the event of a tie, the Region with the highest number of entries of the previous year will receive the representative.
3. The team winning the Provincial Championship will represent the Province of Saskatchewan at the 2013 - 2014 National Mixed Championship held in November 2013.
